Weft rib — where it appears

Plain weave with its ends grouped rather than its picks, so the cord runs along the cloth instead of across it. It is the transpose of a warp rib and identical to it in every geometric measure — and much rarer, because a cord's pitch is set by the sett of the grouped system and warp setts are chosen by the reed rather than by the design.
