Poiseuille flow — where it appears

Steady viscous flow down a duct, whose volume rate goes as the area times the square of the hydraulic diameter and therefore as a fourth power of a length. It assumes a passage many diameters long with a settled velocity profile, which a channel through a cloth is not, so it describes only the viscous part of the pressure and only in a close cloth.
